Rising Stars: Meet Ibaadah Sharif

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ibaadah Sharif.

Ibaadah Sharif

Hi Ibaadah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent years as a consumer of services in the beauty industry before realizing I had what it took to step out and become my own tastemaker. On the search to find ways to continuously free my creative mind I obtained my manicurist license at Trendy Nailz Institute located in the Durham area in 2017. With continued growing support from clients & friends, awareness, discipline, practice, and willingness to keep learning in 2022, I decided to return to school for esthetics.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The journey is not always easy, so I continue to trust the process. When I come across difficult moments, I pray for guidance and extra patience. My daily reminder is the quote, “A Queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.” -Oprah Winfrey. With these things, I am able to feel my best and remain focused, no matter how discouraging things may seem.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional nail artist and esthetician. I offer beauty maintenance for clients who want an enhanced look for special occasions as well as clients just looking to be pampered and feel pretty. I specialize in detail design and recommendations. I’d like to believe that I am known for my patience with detail, which sets me apart from other artists in the industry. I am most proud of my persistent determination to keep pursuing and accomplishing my goals despite what obstacles I may come across.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be back in the late 90s early 2000s. At the time, my family and I still lived in upstate New York in a green three-bedroom family houses at the top of the hill with a huge backyard and a front yard about the same size. I watched it snow so hard one day all through the night I couldn’t wait to be able to go outside to play. I remember my Umi (mother) layering me up under clothes, socks, long johns, a long sleeve shirt, sweatpants, a sweatshirt, another pair of socks, snow overalls, a bubble coat to match, gloves, scarf, a hat, and my snow boots. It snowed so much that in some areas the snow came up to my knees. I played outside for hours, trying to leave a mark on as much of the untouched snow as possible with little footprints, sled marks, and snow angels before I had to go back in. I was having so much fun I didn’t even notice how cold my fingers & toes had become or that the sun started to go down. Shortly after, my Umi was calling us inside for hot food. I remember standing in the foyer smiling as I unthaw before taking down my layers, happy about the marks I left in the snow. ONE BEST DAY EVER!
