Today we’d like to introduce you to Phillip DeMuth.
Hi Phillip, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in a small town in eastern North Carolina. I was born with dyslexia, ADHD, and a speech impediment, so I had a tough time in school in the early years. Growing up in Rocky Mount, NC, I didn’t really know we were poor, but we were.
The example my mom set made a lasting impression. “I grew up in a family that was so generous – if you needed anything, my mom and dad would give it to you. So, I always wanted the kind of job where I could be generous as well.”
Real estate turned out to be that kind of job for Phillip. As Owner/Broker for Aspire Real Estate, he gives back wherever he can – helping others stay motivated, dedicated, and focused on achieving their dreams and helping his community be a better place to live.
I got his license in 2017 and started at Keller Williams in 2018. I worked for a few different firms and even my own firm before rejoining Keller Williams.
I started in my teenage years working for my uncle as a builder before getting my real estate license.
In 2018, when joining Keller Williams, I hired an assistant and hit the ground running. In my first year, I did 43 deals and around $12M in Sales volume in 6 months. Now, I am averaging between 90 and 120 deals each year for around $40M in sales.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Real estate, for me, has had its challenges. I have tried growing teams for years, and it has been a struggle to find agents who are willing to do what it takes to be successful in the industry. Real Estate is only limited to the amount of work and sacrifice you are willing to put into it. It is a profession where the harder you work, the luckier you get.
One of the hardest things about real estate is being self-driven and being consistent with your daily activities and time management skills.
I believe that your career will be as good or as bad as you choose it to be. If you are willing to put in the work to master your craft, you will be successful much quicker. Your work ethic will make or break you in real estate. Your choice equals your outcome, and your schedule is your boss,”
As you know, we’re big fans of Aspire Real Estate. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
When I started the company in 2018, it was under my name, DeMuth Realty Group. As we continued to grow the company and higher agents, I started regretting that I named the company after myself. I felt like it was a team effort, and we all contributed to the success or failure of the business.
So, in 2023, I decided to rebrand the company and changed the name to Aspire Real Estate. Aspire Real Estate is a company where we help aspiring agents and clients live their best lives.
In 2023, we promoted one of our first Buyer agents, Austin Penniger, to an owner in the business. His hard work and dedication were noticed, and he showed the true qualities of someone I wanted to partner with for the long term.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Success is simple. It is the act of doing what you set out to do. You can’t overthink it; stick to what has got you to where you are.
Stay persistent and consistent in your daily activities.
Don’t compare yourself to other agents and their success; your journey is your journey, and no two are the same.
