Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Enander Hedin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve been a freelance hair and makeup artist specializing in weddings for over 10 years. I’ve always loved makeup and hair ever since I was a young girl! Weddings hold a special place in my heart. Getting to make women feel the most beautiful they’ve ever felt on the biggest and happiest day of their lives is incredibly rewarding.
I started growing my business by word of mouth… before social media is what it is today.
Over the last 3 years, I’ve expanded my business, and we now have a bridal team of 7 talented hair and makeup artists that encompass the Lovely by Lindsey brand. I’ve extended into the education side of bridal hairstyling and have online courses and digital downloads available for purchase. While I still have a strong passion for my artistry, I’ve developed an excitement for the business side and helping aspiring artist grow their business.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Growing a business as a solo-preneur definitely has its challenges. To this day, I’m still a one-woman show on the business end. Everything from bookkeeping to client management, to website design, to marketing, and beyond. Wearing a hundred hats is tough to juggle on its own. Then add on being a mom and a wife on top of that… simply put – there’s not enough time in a day to get everything done. There’s always more to do!
There are also many mental and mindset challenges. Imposter syndrome is real and something I think all small business owners go through.
Being self-employed is an incredible gift. But one side that I don’t hear talked about a lot is that it can be lonely, and you don’t get the peer recognition you may get in a traditional career. When I hit a revenue goal, for example, no one knows or recognizes it as a job well done, besides myself and my husband. So even though it may just be to myself, I try to celebrate the wins.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
We specialize in luxury bridal hair and makeup artistry. My business is most known for being kind, calming, thorough, professional, and fun! We know how important a wedding day is, and it is our goal to make a bride’s morning stress-free with good vibes and amazing hair & makeup!
With makeup, we focus on enhancing each client’s natural beauty. I feel it’s important to make my clients feel like a more polished and radiant version of themselves. I don’t want them to look in the mirror and see someone else. But to look in the mirror and genuinely feel the most beautiful they’ve ever felt.
With hair, I tend to gravitate towards a more “lived-in” style. Hairstyles that have effortless movement and texture.
We believe in continuing education, understanding current trends, and using quality, high-end products to create Pinterest-worthy and long-lasting hair & makeup looks.
Our experience, professionalism and desire to make our clients happy is what sets us apart. We take honor and pride in giving our clients the luxury experience they deserve from the time they inquire to the moment they get ready to walk down the isle on their wedding day!
