Daily Inspiration: Meet Tracey Jefferson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Jefferson.

Hi Tracey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was a smart mouth, know-it-all little girl trapped in a grown woman body. Until I married a woman beater. My journey started when my mother passed away, then I lost my job of 15 years all in a few months apart. When I met him, I thought he was my knight in shining armor. But he was the monster that made me Suffer in Silence. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Before marriage, my life was smooth and beautiful. During and after the marriage, the road became an obstacle course. Once I separated from the abuser, my finances spiraled because he left me with so much debt that I had to file bankruptcy. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I love working with DV clients whether they are victims or survivors, hearing their voices gives me encouragement to continue the work for the next generation of our teens, young ladies and young men.  My passion is to encourage women to not suffer in silence at the expense of the batterers. Instead of getting sick and tired over ten times, leave at the first or second time they abuse you. The longer we stay, the worse it gets for some. But some don’t ever get a chance because they are killed. 

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
What most people don’t know about me is that I’m a true introvert. I’m usually the life of the party, but I’m always thinking, I will be really glad to get home and put on my PJs, get quiet and watch a funny movie or write. I also have created a course for parents raising sons of DV. It’s a 90-day course that I don’t promote yet.
