Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Layell.
Hi Dani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Photography has always had a special place in my heart. I remember using my mom’s old Polaroid camera to snap pictures and constantly begging her to buy more film for it. In high school, I had a little red point and shoot camera with me everywhere I went. My parents gifted me my first “real” for Christmas in 2014. I would spend so much time editing and perfecting the images I took (mostly off my two amazing little boys, Eli and Carter) and posting them to Facebook. Eventually, friends and family started asking me to photograph their families.
In 2015, I was approached about photographing a wedding and I will never forget the excitement that I felt! I spent months prepping and walked into that wedding full of ambition and I drive that I had never felt before with any job. I knew in that moment that I wanted to make this a career, and so I built this business fueled by the pure joy and contentment that I felt behind the camera on March 7th of 2015.
For six years, I have had the honor of serving couples throughout North and South Carolina, New York, Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee. My work has been published in Savannah Soiree, Southern Bride, Coastal Bride., Wedding Chicks, and the Carolina’s Magazine. I also have a full spread magazine feature in A Low Country Wedding Magazine! I’ll never forget the feeling of receiving my copy in the mail and flipping through the pages to see the images I captured.
I am honored to have a job that I love and where I get to be a part of such a special moment in a couple’s life together. I wholeheartedly believe in serving others well, and aside from providing my clients with photographs, I strive to also provide them with an amazing experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh gosh! Not at all. But absolutely worth it. I have had so many moments of self-doubt, questioning myself, and pure frustration. I think the biggest struggle I have faced as a business owner has been navigating the effects on the wedding industry from Covid. However, looking back on the last year, I think it’s safe to say that we have all had to overcome challenges that we didn’t know existed. In the end, I feel like I have learned so much about myself as a person and a business owner.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My two boys Eli and Carter, my family, friends, and the amazing clients I work with. My two boxers Abbie and Kirra. I love the outdoors and adventures. The ocean is my happy place. I love visiting new places. Riding with the windows down in the evening listening to music as the boys sing and dance in the back seat.
