Check Out Kamryn Bizzell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kamryn Bizzell.

Hi Kamryn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had a passion for creating. As a child, I created movement in my body by dancing, I created nail art by painting my nails every week, and currently, I create anything and everything with string and a crochet hook! I am a God-taught fiber artist, and it excites me that there is a never ending world of yarn and a never ending world of creating!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Crocheting is one of my many hobbies. With anything that requires effort, there will always be bumps in the road. While learning to crochet, I struggled with self-doubt, wondering if I could ever be as talented as the creators I see on social media. As I continue to perfect my skills, and choose to stop comparing myself to others, I know the road can only get smoother from here! God gave me a talent that comes naturally to me. Why would I downplay myself because my work might look different than someone else’s? Different never means bad!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in all things crochet! Anything you can imagine, I can create. What sets me apart from others is that I create not only to bring joy to others, but it is also a form of worship and rest. I have been living with Type 1 Diabetes for 13 years. It is a condition that doesn’t stop, even if I want to give up. When I crochet, I briefly allow myself to disconnect from diabetes, and focus on the repetitive motion of making stitches and repeating praises to God, thanking Him for my health and for my talents.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was reserved and relaxed. Like many children, I had friends that I enjoyed playing with, but, I enjoyed spending most of my time at home with my family and all of our pets! My siblings and I had a lot of fun doing different crafts, playing our instruments/singing, and playing in our backyard playground that our dad built!
