Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney.
Hi Sydney, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I found myself finding tons of cute items while out shopping, which I’d share with my sisters. However, after a while, they got sick of me blowing up their text messages. 🤣 So, I created Chic Bargain Finds’ IG page on 12/13/2018 and it has grown from there!
I had no idea it would take off the way it has, as I was simply looking for a hobby and a way to share my shopping finds. I love the community that I’ve built on IG and FB and I’m incredibly grateful for those who support my page!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I didn’t realize how time-consuming blogging/social media is! There’s a lot that goes into that people don’t realize. I would like to do more but since this isn’t my full-time job, I have to be deliberate with my time and intentions.
I also feel attached to my phone a lot. So, I have to make a conscience effort to not allow myself to be consumed by my social media and my phone. Some days I am better at this than others though.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
For the past 13 years, I have worked in Human Resources in various industries. Currently, I work in HR for an investment management company whose client is in higher education and healthcare.
What makes me love HR is my ability to help others through my focus on servant leadership. I’m known to be a firm but fair HR professional with a bubbly personality. One of my favorite quotes and mantras for myself, both personally and professionally, is: “Be kind for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.”
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Through my blogging, I’ve learned the importance of balance. As I mentioned, this isn’t my full-time job so trying to balance it all can be challenging. So focusing on balance and having fun has helped me continue on my blogging journey!
