Today we’d like to introduce you to Tai Davis.
Hi Tai, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
It all started from my passion of drawing. In college, I took that passion and started tattooing friends for fun. At that time, everything seemed so easy.
Over the years, life took me on a journey through some less than ideal circumstances. The challenges of being homeless and the struggles that came with my diagnosis of Crohn’s disease left me feeling like I hit rock bottom. That was probably the toughest time in my life, but I learned a lot about myself and never gave up on myself.
As time passed, I started working in the restaurant industry in every position and ending as a Cook Manager. I was working anywhere from 60-80 hours a week while not receiving fair financial compensation for my responsibilities and lack of respect. I was putting all of my time and energy into a place that was not providing me with long-term stability, personal satisfaction, or happiness. I was assisting with someone else’s success and not feeling any happiness from it.
I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to get back to my natural talent; to my passion, to being me. I wanted to draw and tattoo. With the help of some important people in my life, I made the decision to go for it. I always told myself, if I was going to do this, work for myself than I would need to go all in. That is not an easy decision to make, but that is exactly what I did. Why continue to work for someone else when I could live my dream. I started my own business, Afta Hourz Tattoos and have not looked back.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been easy, in life nothing comes easy if you want it you have to go get it and go all in, and that the motto I installed myself. Of course, with any new business the main struggle is getting started and brand yourself and bringing in customers. But the main struggle for me is to be patient.

I’m a tattoo artist who loves turning people’s ideas into something they will love and be happy with me.
How do you think about happiness?
Happiness comes from within and if you’re not happy with yourself, then your not gonna be happy. The one person that I do this for and makes me happy is my mom she always been my rock and had my back good or bad so seeing her happy and proud of me at the end of the day that what’s make me happy.
