Check Out Zihkelia Harrison’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zihkelia Harrison.

Hi Zihkelia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My name is Zihkelia Harrison & “The Loc Guru” was founded in November 2019. Working a 9-5 job, I started doing Faux Locs because I wanted a second income. While starting, I had little to no clientele because up-and-coming stylists have to build clientele. In June 2020, I created “butterfly Locs” & went viral on all platforms. While going viral on all platforms, I started to exceed in followers, and that’s where my journey began. 2year later, I’m grateful for where I am today. I have a following big base on all platforms & I’m well known around the United States.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This journey has been a good journey for me overall. Like all businesses, there are bumps in the road. In the hair industry, we have different hairstyles for different seasons; for example, summer/spring are great seasons for me. In winter/fall, I still get clientele, but it’s much slower, so that causes me to get discouraged at times. Although I get discouraged, I always bounce back thanks to my fiancé, friends & family.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a faux Locs specialist . I specialize in soft locs, butterfly Locs, etc. I am well known as “The Loc Guru.” I am very proud of myself and how far I have come. My clients keep me going. I have made awesome friends in this industry. This journey wasn’t easy & I know I will continue to strive for greater. I’m so proud that my work gets out in the world, and many people can see my creativity in my work. I work such a hard day in & day out to perfect my craft and have my clients leaving satisfied. I feel like my vibe set me apart from the others. When coming to get serviced by me, people automatically feel a connection with me & that’s my end goal because I want everyone to be comfortable while sitting in my chair.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I like that businesses can connect on different levels & come together as one when we are doing the same thing. I dislike all the traffic, though!
