Amanda, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our hobbies include photography, DIY projects, painting, woodworking, and anything crafty.
Like everyone else in 2020, we were bored scrolling through TikTok and saw a video of an individual across the country turning an old medical office into a selfie museum. Never hearing of a selfie museum until that moment, we did some digging on google and discovered more selfie museums in the US and other countries. We even visited a few selfie museums in person in late 2020!
Knowing our hobbies and our drive to have a business of our own, we decided to open a selfie studio here in our city, Raleigh North Carolina.
After months of searching for the perfect location and filling as a new business, we found our studio at 1055 Dresser Ct. We signed our lease at the end of January 2021, spent very long hours in February 2021 building everything out in the studio and had our Grand Opening in the beginning of March 2021!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a first-time business owner, there were definitely some challenges. Learning the ins and outs of creating an LLC, leasing a commercial property, and sourcing supplies.
Fortunately, we are both crafty people and have a great support system in our families. We designed and created the rooms here at Pose Selfie Studio ourselves! Putting in super long hours and lots of 2am nights painting, flooring, etc. Personally the build out was my favorite part! And getting to see our guest’s photos always puts a smile on my face! Our guests are so creative, using the unique rooms we built to capture amazing photos and memories.
Learning the social media end of the business has been fun! I am learning a whole new side of apps like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok that I didn’t know before starting a business! Instagram is a great resource for getting your business out there!

Pose Selfie Studio is a photography studio where individuals whether amateur or professional can come and use the uniquely and creativity built sets.
For $32 tax included, a guest will get access to the entire studio for 1 hour. 9 rooms with multiple photo opportunities within them as well as fun props to help achieve a perfect picture.
Each guest entering the studio must have a ticket.
Pose Selfie Studio does not have an in-house photographer, guests are welcome to bring their own photographer but must purchase a ticket for all guests including the photographer.
Guests are welcome to bring their phones to take pictures or cameras. We provide 18-inch ring lights with phone holder in each room!

Our hours are:
Wednesday/Tuesday 4:30pm to 9:00pm with the last appointment being 7:30pm.
Friday/Saturday/Sunday 11:00am to 9:00pm with the last appointment being 8:00pm.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Stay true to yourself and your goals! Don’t let others sway you in a direction that you don’t want to go in. Be creative and make your business your own.
Set short-term calendar goals! This will help you stay organized and met deadlines. For the build out of Pose Selfie Studio, we set short-term goals like “Put first coat of paint on all rooms by Thursday” and “Glue flowers by next week”.
Use social media for advertising! You can use hashtags that center in on your niche!
