Today we’d like to introduce you to Jungeun Cottrell.
Hi Jungeun, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After moving to the Raleigh from South Korea with my husband, I found myself drawn to baking. So when my husband said he was going to make macarons for me for Valentine’s Day, I had to beat him to it. It took 9 batches to finally get macarons that I could admit to making. From there my passion really blossomed and I couldn’t stop making them. Eventually we added custom cakes to my repertoire.
The business started with baby steps in 2022 by getting our kitchen inspected and doing all of the required paperwork, and we had been slowly building while I also took care of the children. Now that they are in school, it’s nice to have more time to focus on building the business even more.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say it has been pretty smooth, but attracting new customers can be a challenge. I am not big on social media, and it is such an important part of building a business. Even though that can be hard, we enjoy taking it as it comes.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a small business that specializes in baking macarons and custom cakes. I believe our macarons really set us apart and really are some of the highest quality you can get. For both our macarons and custom cakes, I make sure every order meets the highest standard of beauty, texture, and flavor.
Any big plans?
We are planning to expand the number of orders we can take a week, and maybe break into local markets. We are excited to see where it goes.
