Community Highlights: Meet King’Roy Hampton of God Faith Family

Today we’d like to introduce you to King’Roy Hampton.

Hi King’Roy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started with a vision from God. I could never take any credit for what God has shown and trusted me with. Years ago, I was woken from a late afternoon nap. I was lead to the local dollar general, where I purchased a sketch pad and pencil. Now, let me say that I was never the artist in my family nor school. I could never draw or even something I practiced. That day I started brainstorming ideas of what I wanted my clothing line to be. I couldn’t sleep for the next two days because of it.

I reached out to numerous of designers and top-notch brands for wisdom and direction, but none would reply back to my countless emails. It wasn’t until a guy named Dustin Byrd gave me some words that I would change my life behind. He simply said, “let whatever your brand name be represent you and what you stand for. I dove back into my brainstorming and said to myself, GOD is something I am a firm believer in. My mother always showed me what FAITH is by her actions, and FAMILY has always been first. After thinking of more ideas, those three words jumped out at me and spoke to my heart. Those three words would change my life forever. So a few weeks later, I went to our local mall in Winston and got a shirt made with the initials GFF on it (that I have framed). The very next day I wore that shirt to the mall. People stopped and asked what did those initials stand for. I simple said, God Faith Family, a person asked where did I buy it… I looked up in the sky and said, “ok God, this is it.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
What I have learned and what I continue to tell others is that patience is key. Nothing great happens overnight and it is truly God’s speed. I have lost thousands of dollars, I have been scammed, I have lost sleep and time, but I truly feel it was all worth it. I was a part of a fashion show the second year of the God Faith Family launch. The night before the show I was not given any product I had paid for. The night before the first fashion my brand was a part of, and I was scammed for all the products I had worked so hard to show the city I love and cherish, I had nothing to show them. I remember crying my eyes out on the floor that evening. After praying to God, I wiped my tears, stood up and was still able to give a show without anyone knowing it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I see my brand being so much more than clothes. I see myself starting a charter school, mentorship for young kids that grew up like me. I see my brand bringing people to God and uniting this world again. I see my brand being a true brand of its word and speaking life to people. My most proud moments would have to see people wearing my brand when I see families of all demographics wearing and representing a vision given to me by God. I want my readers to understand and know that we all have something in common and those things are the three components needed for a prosperous life.

I read a book titled “Chase The Lion” by Mark Batterson that inspired me. I am currently putting together a podcast through my brand that will be called “Let’s Talk God Faith Family.”
