Community Highlights: Meet Savannah Rogers of Something Braided

Today we’d like to introduce you to Savannah Rogers .

Hi Savannah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My career in the beauty industry started when I was eighteen years old. I went to Cosmetology school right after high school and began assisting hair and makeup artists for weddings. I fell in love with working at weddings and being able to make someone feel their best for a very important day of their lives! I worked in Charlotte at a Drybar for almost three years until I was able to work for myself in a salon located in Belmont, NC. I have been so lucky with how much support and business I have gotten from clients! I officially started my bridal business, Something Braided, at the beginning of 2021.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging part of my journey was trusting the process. It’s easy to look on social media and see other people succeeding when you feel like you aren’t making progress. I must remind myself that no one shows their struggles on social media. Success does not happen overnight; staying consistent with your hard work is key.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Something Braided?
Something Braided is the name of my bridal hair and makeup business. I specialize in doing the bride’s hair and makeup, along with hair for the bridal party. Every bride and bridal party is different, so I like to plan according to their needs. If the wedding party has a large amount, I love to reach out and collaborate with other artists that complement my style. My bridal hairstyle is chic, classic, and romantic. I love the classic chignon updo, the chic glamour waves, or a romantic textured updo. I started being known for my big braids, which is why I incorporated that into my brand name. My bridal makeup style is what sets me apart from others. I go for a glowy, natural look for my brides. I like my brides to feel beautiful in their skin and not feel like they have to leave their comfort zone.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I have been taking more risks with starting this business on my own and leaving teams that I used to work for. It is scary to leap, but the right clients will find you!
