Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Artis.
Hi Angela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My story began when I was in college. After I graduated from High School, I attended Lander University where I originally didn’t know exactly what I wanted to major in. All I knew was I loved Fashion and Expressing myself. It wasn’t until I spoke with my grandfather before he passed one night and I told him how I wish I could study fashion and understand the business behind the clothes. He told me about a school called the Art Institute that offered so many classes within Fashion Merchandise, Supply chain, & buying. After he passed in my second semester in school I decided to apply and I got accepted. That was the best decision in my entire life because I was able to learn so much about what I do now. I took a class called Blogging and in that class was when I decided right in that moment that I wanted to be Fashion Blogger. So, in 2011 I made my first blog post as a Fashion Blogger, I built my first website myself, and I took all my pictures. It was a very humbling moment for me because everything I know today was because I self-taught myself. Now even though I didn’t major in Blogging I was able to a side career off of it at a young age. Fashion school allowed me to learn about the Buying and Supply chain side of a business and I used everything I learned and shared about it on my blog. Fast forward to today I grew my blog and social media off sharing my life lessons and fashion with others. I grew over 20,000 followers and over 10,00 subscribers on my blog. I started a Consultation Business to help future bloggers do the same thing.
I managed to that all and still be able to use my degree in Supply chain to become a lead buyer and now a Contract Manager. I know nothing would have happened if I didn’t take the risk. It’s what made me who I am today.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing has been a smooth transition for me. It took a lot of long nights of hard work. One thing I never did was compare myself to others. Everything I did for myself. I left a traditional school to learn about Fashion.
In my corporate career, if I didn’t feel valued or elevating quick enough, I left. I believed in myself so much that I knew I would be okay no matter what.
Motherhood changed my life because I knew what it felt like to lose a child. When I had my son, I decided I would go over and above for him because I didn’t think I would ever be a mom.
Nothing in life has been perfect so I appreciate all my major blessings I’ve experienced in my life because it wasn’t easy for me. I love nice things and will splurge every now and then. However, I’m so humble about it because I know what it took for me to get where I am today and it’s only the beginning.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started my corporate career as a Buyer in Fashion. I was one of the leads for some of the top companies in the world for fine Jewelry. I left Fashion Corporate after a promotion to become a Supply Chain Manager at a Pharmaceutical company and I’ve never looked back. Now I currently lead and manage projects that are over 500k that goes towards something great to help people all around the world.
My Part-time Career I am a full-time Lifestyle Blogger and Coach. I could never give up fashion so I decided to make a part-time career out of it. I create content for my social media and blog and get paid very well to do so. I work for myself so I can make my own rules. Still to this day with my full-time job and becoming a mom I still manage to keep up my blog.
In 2020 I launched my Consultation Business where I wanted to help other people grow on social media and learn how to make money by simply sharing and posting content. It’s the best feeling in the world.
What matters most to you? Why?
What matters to me most would be my family and loved ones. Nothing else in this world can beat being surrounded by people who love you.
I go so hard in my career and business because I want to be able to one day give something for my family when I leave. I want them to be proud of me and to know I worked hard for them.
