Conversations with Ashley Pirhalla

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Pirhalla with Thomas Guertin Real Estate.

Hi Ashley, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

A friend and her husband were buying their first home together. Several times throughout the transaction she expressed how frustrated she was with the process. Her husband had been the primary source of contact for the Realtor, lender, and inspector. He was somewhat overwhelmed and hadn’t been great about relaying information to her. After hearing similar stories from other friends, I realized there was a gap in the industry. A gap that I could fill. Buying a home is a financial transaction, but it is also more than that. It is an experience. An experience for everyone who will be living in that home. Everyone should feel like they are part of that experience… and that’s where I come in. I love to provide an informative, inclusive, and enjoyable experience.

I truly love helping people. I love explaining the buying and/or selling process. I try to ensure that I am explaining things in clear and understandable terms. I want to ensure all adults involved in the buying or selling process are aware of what is going on throughout the process.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Real estate is a fickle industry. I started during a pandemic that has been followed by a housing shortage. There’ve been some bumps in the road along the way, but if I can make it through this, I am confident I can make it through anything.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?

I specialize in residential real estate in and around the Triangle. With 9,500+ Realtors in the Raleigh Region, it can be difficult to stand out. There’s no magic sauce when it comes to my business. I try to be authentic, honest, reliable, and transparent with my clients.

I like to really get to know my clients and their lifestyles. If a guy’s top priority is his car, we are going to spend a couple of extra minutes looking at every garage. If a mom tells me she loves to drink wine and binge-watch Netflix when her kids go to bed, we are going to talk about all the places you could put a TV (bonus points if there is a wine fridge). If a kiddo tells me they can’t wait to have a pink room, I’m going to show up with a pink paint strip so we can talk about which shade of pink looks best in the houses that we visit.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?

Stepping out of a comfort zone can do wonders for anyone. I’ve shown up to networking events where I didn’t know anyone. By the time the event was over, I had connected with several people. Social media is a great way to follow up and keep in touch with individuals I’ve connected with at various events.
