Today we’d like to introduce you to Cordell Gibson.
Cordell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was introduced to computers and electronics via my dad and two of my uncles (one on each side). My dad is very much into gaming on PCs and consoles, and my two uncles are in the IT field and are also gaming enthusiasts. I also developed a love for electronics and computers as well. At first it mostly gaming, and then eventually I got into working on computers. After I graduated from high school I went to college and received a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology degree from University of Phoenix. While I was in college I was working a full-time job and also working on the side fixing computers. Several years later I created my LLC called CGee Enterprises for consulting and computer repair services.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Creating the LLC was the easiest part. Getting contracts and clientele has been the hardest part. To be transparent, I have not fully transitioned into being fully self-employed. I still most work contractor and salaried roles. The other obstacle is setting things up to where my income will be stable and I will not in essence take a pay cut when I make the switch
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am in the IT field, and currently I do not specialize in one particular skill-set in the realm of IT. To my clients, I am known for being thorough and diligently working through their issues that they make known to me. I am most proud of being knowledgeable enough to help resolve the issues that my clients bring to me and also seeing them relieved after I finish the job.
What sets me apart is the name of my company and also how I approach my clients personally.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is visiting my relatives in Henderson, NC and hanging out with my uncle Marcus. He is one of my mom’s younger brothers and we spent a lot of time together whenever we visited Henderson in between living in different places.
