Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Grady- Lee.
Hi Felicia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My life journey started as a single mom. I wanted to give back after working years and years with EMS and 911 telecom. My passion became even stronger watching single moms struggle with many things, especially domestic violence, human trafficking, and homelessness. Every Thursday, I would make dinner for children in the neighborhood to give back to single moms or parents. At least that would be one less thing they had to do. Recently we did an event called ground zero. This event was held in Raleigh, places no one else would go. We fed over 250 men, women, and children. My non-profit is called Second Chance Angels. I have a team of women who are dedicated to my vision, and I couldn’t do this without them. I survived many battles all through my faith and with my three kings. GOD truly gets the glory. I am now working on my book called “Waiting to Ex-Hell.” My sons are now married to their children, and we are grateful. We have an upcoming event called “Taking Back My Beauty.” More to come on this subject at the interview. This journey has been long and has taught me patience. We will always keep driving through the storms of life because even if you pull over for a moment. That’s a moment too long that you have surrendered. Never surrender to any storm. GOD gave me a second chance, so I will spend the rest of my life giving willing souls that same chance.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of my toughest battles was overcoming my illnesses. I had to decide whether I would surrender to the doctor or GOD. They gave me 7 years to live 20 years ago. I refused any treatment, and I am healed today because of my faith. No road will ever be smooth hearing and listening have helped me elevate. Go slow over the bumpy roads. The race is not for the swift nor the slow but for one who will make it to the end.
Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
Today I am the founder and owner of Second Chance Angels, INC. I have my training facility—Basic Life Support Instructor; I travel and minister to souls daily. I am so proud of myself for not surrendering what sets me apart from others and my willingness to stand up for what’s right. I have a voice, and I utilize it to help others. Once my children finished college. I went back and got my degree in Criminal Justice. Proud mom moment for me.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory. Thinking of when we didn’t have the world on our shoulders and played at the beach with my brother and cousins. Staying out until dusk dark and not having to worry about a lot of the issues we have today and being a kid and worry-free.
