Conversations with N’Taya Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to N’Taya Houston.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is N’Taya and I am a black woman who was always criticized, talked down on, bullied, or treated poorly because of my looks and the things I didn’t have. As I grew, my mentality started to strengthen and I was able to grasp the fact that I didn’t need validation or certain things to help me fit in. Being my own person was my route and I solely was an individual who was all about me, nothing else mattered. I’ve been a glamour fashionista for as long as I could remember. I always kept my makeup, my nails, my toes, and my hair done. I stayed dressed up! I was my own person. Nobody couldn’t tell me anything until about 2016.

In 2016, I got pregnant with my daughter. Life was good, but somehow my life took a turn for the worse in 2017. I had completely lost sight of myself. I was a new mom, stressed, angry, suicidal, and insecure about my looks. I was in a really dark place due to my suffering from postpartum depression. Until one day, I ran across a lady who didn’t know me from a can of paint; stop me, gaze me in my eyes, and say “You’re beautiful and ambitious. You have so much creativity in you. Use it, it’s your power, my ambitious girl.” I never knew what she meant but I took heed to it. I suffered silently and alone for 2 ½ years until I decided to implement change in my life. I got up and stopped feeling sorry for myself, stopped doubting myself, and stopped hurting myself. It wasn’t easy but I took things day by day. I recovered and I’m alive. In 2020, I took control back over my life.

I enrolled myself in college to obtain my associate’s degree in applied science, majoring in cosmetology. I figured why not do something I’ve always had a passion and interest for? Ambitious Galoré Beauty Studio was once known as Ambitious Minks due to the fact that when we first launched our business we only specialized in lashes. Now we operate under the name Ambitious Galoré Beauty Studio because we have expanded and specialize in lashes, hair, skincare, and cosmetics. Ambitious Galoré Beauty Studio is here to help you take your beauty personally.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road because of course I am not only a rising business owner, I am new to the entrepreneurship world, so things have been a process and an experience for me. Along the way of my business journey, I hit a few stumps here and there.

Finding a vendor, the right vendor took the longest time ever because you have to invest in order to see who will be playing the ball in your court. It’s all about quality and turnaround times when it comes down to your supplier (vendor). I went through 5 vendors before I actually found my top player. Now that I have my set and consistent vendor business has been smoother than ever.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve worked in the nursing field for about 8 to 8 1/2 years helping and caring for others. As I got older, I started to drift away from wanting to work for other companies to investing in myself and what I want. I currently work as a PBX operator, and a travel advisor, and operate my business Ambitious Galoré Beauty Studio. In 2020, As I mentioned before Ambitious Galoré Beauty Studio was once known as “Ambitious Minks”. Now that we have expanded our business we specialize in hair, lashes, cosmetics, and skincare.

We are known to empower and help other females take their beauty personally. As the CEO, I set myself and my business apart from other business owners and brands because I come up with out-of-the-box ways to help promote and or take my business to the next level. My talent and creativity are what help me stand out. I am extremely proud of the fact that no matter how many tribes and tribulations I went through I still continued to push and grow my brand.

What’s next?
I am looking forward to obtaining my associate’s degree in applied science by the end of 2024, so I can open up my beautiful studio in the future. Currently, we are planning for the Ambitious Galore Beauty Studio Christmas relaunch this year since we have gotten rid of the old and bringing in the new.
