Today we’d like to introduce you to Shunta Blackwell.
Shunta, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My vision came to light many years before it originally started. I wrote down just general ideas before I put things in action. Approximately five years ago is when I decided to put Creative Impressions Event Planning LLC in action. I have over 20 years of experience in bartending. I have completed studies in wedding planning, event planning, and other courses within the industry. I am always willing to further educate myself about the industry. As of right now, things are a little slow as a result of the COVID era. Being a part of this era is a learning process. Creative Impressions Event Planning LLC is a mobile business. We travel in North Carolina and border states.
We are getting booked since lifting restrictions. Business is doing well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running Creative Impressions Event Planning LLC has not been a smooth road. I have truly had my ups and downs. Trying to figure out my best options. I use to ask people that were a part of the industry about their success and their downfalls. That did not go so well. I guess they were looking at me as competition. So, I decided to educate myself and I am still learning. There have been mistakes, but without mistakes there will not be a learning process.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner and creator of Creative Impressions Event Planning LLC. As an owner, I wear many hats. I am a bartender, wedding planner, wedding coordinator, event planner, decorator, and more. Bartending is a passion. I have over 20 years of experience as being a certified mixologist. I just wanted to be a part of an industry that put smiles on people’s faces. I am more of a listener than a talker. When I take notes, it most brainstorming than writing it down. I like to consume the energy and thoughts of my client/clients. I mostly put everything down when I get home in my office.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
That I am a correctional officer. When clients ask me, is my business full time. I say to them no. I am a correctional officer. The expression on their face. Lol. Then we begin a conversation about both.
