Daily Inspiration: Meet Kelly Germond

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Germond.

Hi Kelly, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m from Kelly Ann 3 Photography, and I truly love taking pictures! I have been a professional photographer for five years, but I’ve had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember. The art of photography is an evolution of so many years of learning, practice and experience. I have been trained and mentored with some of the best photographers in our industry and continue to learn new information and techniques daily. I anticipate that my portraits and business will grow and improve every year. If asked if I have a favorite photo that I’ve taken, I’d probably answer with “the next one that I take will always be my favorite.” Looking to improve each shot that I take keeps me creative and motivated to always do better the next time I pick up my camera.

I truly feel that photos are the way to tell your story. What was happening in your life at that moment. I’d love to be a part of capturing those exact moments for you to look back at many years from now. I’d like to guide you in printing them for exactly what you want to use them for, to keep them available to enjoy every day!

I am currently living in Durham, NC, and moved here from a seven years stay in Kingman, AZ…A far different environment than where I grew up in Western NY. The beauty I found in moving to Kingman is just amazing to photograph. There are so many gorgeous and inspiring places! I am convinced that the seven years that we lived in the desert made me a far better photographer, pushing me to see new beauty, lighting, color and creating a far more challenging place to push myself. Since relocating back east, I am so excited to continue my learning and growth in the much greener surroundings. When asked, I certainly will travel back west for sessions and keep my desert photography skills fine-tuned.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to where I am today has been challenging at times and smooth sailing at others. The love of photography has always been the constant that has held me along my pathway to continue the course. Taking beautiful photos is usually the easy part of the job. Learning to run a small business, and to try to make a living doing this, has been the more challenging part of the journey. Living in two very different communities has proven to be challenging to this journey as well. I feel that I had just begun to get my business to really take hold in Arizona when we made the decision to relocate across the country. At the time my family moved we had just entered into the beginning of the pandemic, and learning a new area with new clients and and entirely new business model created many challenges in the start to things in North Carolina. Even today, I am still learning what people like and what my clients are looking for out of their family portraits and memories here. As an artist, I continue to try to provide my best work. As a business owner, I try to do that while supporting my business and my family. I’ll continue to adapt over the years to keep the balance of fine art and a sustainable business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in stylized, fine art portrait photography. I love to work with families, and especially children. I create specialty sessions with couture gowns and beautiful settings to capture childhood memories in beautiful outfits. I help with every aspect of a session from choosing outfits to deciding on the perfect location and time of day to make the most perfect portrait. I hope to create a memory, not only in print but in my client’s memories, that will hang in homes for generations to come and stand the test of time. I want for my clients to look back on these portraits years from now and remember their family photos with happy memories of the day we took these photos. I love to take an ordinary location and transform the portrait to a classic piece of artwork that the family will be proud to display in their home for all to see.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
To book a client session please contact me through my website. I am also happy to collaborate and do so often with dress designers. I would love to collaborate with other photographers and set up shootouts occasionally.
