Hi Rocy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hola, Im Rocy Reyes,

I was born in Oaxaca, Mexico but raised in Burlington, North Carolina. As a little girl, I remember making clothes for my barbies. Marking the start for my passion for fashion.
I am the designer and owner of “ROCY REYES”. My brand designs colorful clothing for confident women. It is dedicated to empower that strong, independent, go getter women. Every design shows that all women are beautiful and sexy with the perfect outfit! I design from ready to wear to lingerie.
A few years ago, I remember buying my first ticket to a fashion show. Not knowing what to expect! But I knew I belong in there! I found my place, I had found me! It was the most amazing, beautiful experience ever. I started learning how to sew and everything about the Fashion Industry. I became a self tought Fashion Designer. I started putting the work and created my brand “ROCY REYES “. I have now showcase my collection on the Runways at Fashion Shows! In North Carolina, Virginia and South Carolina.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It defenetly has not been a smooth ride! They say Fashion Design is a Rich persons hobby! And unfortunately I’m not rich! It can get expensive! Haha I’m a small brand! I dont design fast fashion, I design slow fashion. I’m just a one person doing it all! From designing, to searching for good quality fabric, to creating the pattern! As well as cutting the pattern/fabric and sewing the garment! And, after I’m done I have to be in charge of the photoshoots and the Fashion Shows that I showcase! Oh, I also run the bussines side. The Fashion industry can also make you or break you! I’ve had models hide my garments during shows so they wouldn’t walk for me simply because im Mexican. So you have to mentally prepare yourself and be trusting of God’s plan. It can be alot, that’s why you really have to love what you do in order to get everything done! But even after all of this! It’s worth it!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a self tought Fashion Designer who designs from Ready to wear to Lingerie! I have been specializing in lingerie, because I love making women feel beautiful, sexy, powerful and in there devine and most feminine energy! But most importantly making them feel comfortable and confident with their body! It’s very rewarding when I have customers reach out to me about my clothes and how it made them feel wearing my designs.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think my biggest risk was taking a chance! Just putting my self out there and my work. With no degree, hardly any knowledge about Fashion. And investing In all the tools, fabric and material not knowing if I could make it in this industry! Not having a mentor or advisor in the fashion world. But, I knew what my dream was and I decided to chase it. Someone needs to be the icebreaker for future generations. I’ve embraced the challenge and I am enjoying it.
