Today we’d like to introduce you to April Scott.
Hi April, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Let’s just say that entrepreneurship is in my blood. Growing up, my father always had his own business and worked a corporate job. As a child, he instilled in me a great work ethic and hope for having my own business someday. I always had a vision of being my own boss. In 2016, I opened my first Hair Salon and learned so much about business. Fast forward to now, I no longer have the hair salon, but I’m a wife, mom of three beautiful children, and a full-time NC Realtor and I love it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. As with anything in life, I believe there will always be challenges. There will be times where you feel like you have everything figured out and life is so easy. Then there will be times where you’re like, “What am I doing? Am I doing this right? Can I do this? What’s supposed to happen next?” I can remember my first six months in real estate, I was cold calling, posting on social media, farming neighborhoods, hosting open houses, and It seemed like none of it was working. I would get phone calls from people saying that they were interested, but they weren’t quite ready to purchase a home.
In September 2020, I went full-time as a realtor and closed my salon suite. I had very little funds, and I remember getting my first client from an open house with a $1,000,000 budget to sign a buyer’s agency agreement with me. That feeling was something I can’t even explain. It was beyond excitement. Well, about a week after they signed, the husband sends me an email saying that they’ve decided to terminate the agreement because they weren’t sure if they wanted to purchase again in NC or move elsewhere. I was devastated because this was my first actual client and I was pouring everything I had into finding them a great home. So, this entrepreneur life is never easy, but I can say that it’s worth it when the hard work pays off.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I like to think that God has shown favor over my life and business. My husband and I are both entrepreneurs with three children, and we haven’t gone without anything. Even though the challenges, I’ve always managed to come out of the situations better than I went in it. We’re lucky to have a support system that allows us to both run our businesses and have flexible hours of operation.
