Inspiring Conversations with Ashley Garnett of Raven Therapeutic Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Garnett.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always known I wanted to be in a helping profession. Through my own life experiences and working in the mental health field, that calling became clear. I earned my degree in psychology and began working in an inpatient hospital, which gave me the opportunity to support both patients and their families. While pursuing my master’s in clinical counseling, I continued working in various hospital roles and later at an outpatient substance abuse clinic, which deepened my understanding of client care. After graduating, I joined several private practices to gain experience and learn the business side of therapy. Those experiences inspired me to open my own practice—Raven Therapeutic Services—where I could combine my clinical skills with my passion for creating a supportive, accessible space for healing and growth.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. While completing my master’s degree and growing my practice, I was also a military wife raising three children and working full time. My husband’s career often required time away from home, which brought its own challenges, but I had great mentors and learned a lot through trial and error. Building a business takes time and sacrifice, but the experience has been incredibly rewarding and has shaped me into the therapist and business owner I am today.

As you know, we’re big fans of Raven Therapeutic Services . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Raven Therapeutic Services is really a reflection of who I am and what I value as a therapist. I wanted to create a space that feels genuine, approachable, and grounded—somewhere people can come as they are and feel truly seen. I work primarily with adults and adolescents, focusing on anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use, but also those navigating big life transitions or trying to rediscover who they are.

What I think sets my practice apart is the balance between clinical skill and real connection. Therapy here isn’t cold or clinical—it’s collaborative, authentic, and rooted in building trust. I’m proud that the brand represents that mix of professionalism and heart.

More than anything, I want people to know that therapy doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be a safe, empowering space to heal, grow, and reconnect with yourself.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something most people don’t know about me is that I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I actually get asked pretty often where the name Raven Therapeutic Services came from, and it’s connected to my Hogwarts house—Ravenclaw. The name felt fitting, not just because of the reference, but because it represents wisdom, insight, and curiosity—all qualities I try to bring into my work as a therapist.
