Inspiring Conversations with Bearta Alchacar of NC Vibes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bearta Alchacar. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Bearta Alchacar immigrated to the US from Lebanon, attended NCSU, and has been in Raleigh. NC since. She has seen Raleigh, a city she loves, grows, and flourishes. She has been working with international communities in Raleigh which consists of over 50 countries.

Bearta is the founder of Raleigh’s International Food Festival and the NC International Festival which brings over 20,000 attendees to downtown. The festival provides a platform to promote cross-cultural exchange, respect, and understanding between cultural groups.

Bearta is the owner of NC Vibes, LLC a special events and promotions company that sponsors the international festival and TEDx Raleigh. Other events include galas, shows, and VIP receptions.

As a business owner in downtown Raleigh, a city she loves! Bearta has met some of the most amazing citizens and local business owners. Her passion is to bring people together, in a fun environment to open dialogue between people and promote compassion and understanding.

Bearta serves as a Vice-Chairman at Raleigh’s Human Relations Commission. Founder of International Festival, a non-profit benefiting from the festivals. Bearta is fluent in French, Arabic, English and working on her Spanish.

Bearta is a lucky mother of three amazing boys who grew up way too fast. Bearta is grateful for life, health and happiness.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Bearta has three loving sisters and a loving brother who are her strength. Her parents died when she was 5 years old. Growing up in the Lebanese war that stole her childhood and the childhood of so many others. Growing up in an orphanage and in the war, needless to say, was a tough childhood. However hard it was, life taught Bearta to always look at the positives in life, always rely on herself, and always have a sense of humor.

Special events are a platform to creatively bring people together and celebrate life, whether it’s a festival, TEDx, shows, VIP receptions, or a gala, people want to come together to forget their worries, have fun, meet interesting people or make new friends. The International Festival brings together people from over 50 countries to celebrate history, art, culinary art, and traditions.

Through dance, performances, music, food, desserts people connect to the human side regardless of wars in their own country.

In Raleigh, we have Palestinians and Israelis dancing on one stage, serving food side by side and cheering for each other. Bringing people together to celebrate life and encourage understanding and respect is the ultimate success of our events.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Bearta learned to always rely on herself, trust her instinct and not be afraid to take chances. It’s better to try and fail than to regret not trying. Bearta learned to stay close to family no matter what, surround herself with positive people, good friends, and appreciate life and its beauty.
