Catrina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Catrina Reese is the founder of Catrina Reese, LLC, where she serves as a licensed and ordained minister, certified life and business coach, officiant trainer, and award-winning wedding officiant. A 2025 Quality Business Award winner for Best Wedding Officiant in Charlotte, Catrina is also a singer-songwriter, former talk-show host, publisher, and the author of four books available on Amazon.
With a background in accounting from King’s College, and advanced entrepreneurial training from Cornell University and the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Center, she combines faith, business expertise, and creativity to help others achieve lasting success. Honored with multiple awards—including recognition in Who’s Who in Black Charlotte—Catrina is celebrated for her leadership and heart for people.
A devoted wife, mother of four, and grandmother of six, she lives by her motto: “I have a passion to see others succeed.”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it truly hasn’t been a smooth road. The biggest struggle with starting my business was getting exposure. Marketing a new business can be very expensive and so that became one of my biggest challenges.
Then when COVID hit, I had to pivot my business to more pre and post marital counseling couples since alot of venues for weddings for being cancelled.

Catrina’s educational journey began with graduation from Myers Park High School in 1980, followed by earning an Associate Degree in Accounting from King’s College in 1984. She later expanded her business skills through the Women Entrepreneurship Program at Cornell University (2023) and is a part of the NASDAQ Milestone Circles “Circle 157”, a peer mentorship incubator for women-led businesses.

How do you think about luck?
I would say good luck has played a major role in my life and business when I accepted that this was what I loved doing and what I was destined to do. I get my example from my parents. They were educators and loved helping people and that became a part of me.
