Inspiring Conversations with Hannah Guffey of Embolden Counseling, PLLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Guffey.

Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
As a child I grew up in a family where helping people was engraved into our family system. I knew I wanted to be in the helping profession and find my own way to help others around me. Fast forward to college, I had an internship at a private practice, and I knew that I wanted to be a therapist and have my own practice in a small town so that people in the community could receive excellent care and not have to drive into the city to get that. And so, Embolden Counseling was formed!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Owning a business, in my opinion, will come with challenges most of the time, some big and some small and that is expected. I heard someone once say you can look at challenges as obstacles or opportunities. I like to believe that when challenges arise, I choose to look at them as opportunities to learn!

We’ve been impressed with Embolden Counseling, PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a Mental Health Private Practice located in Angier, NC. We have different therapists who specialize in EMDR, Play Therapy, Family Systems and more. We offer appointments Monday-Saturday with evening appointments available as well. I am most proud that we are usually able to get someone seen within the week they call, which can be invaluable when you are seeking help.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My family and friends have always been encouraging to open Embolden Counseling. They knew it was a dream of mine and were consistently showing up and providing support in my dream to open a private practice. I worked at a private practice prior to opening my own practice and the owner of it was and is a large supporter and mentor and I’m grateful for all she taught me about private practice!
