Life & Work with Allison Horton of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Horton

Hi Allison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My nursing career began when I was offered a position at Duke in the Surgical Trauma ICU. I left my small-town life behind and moved to what I considered the “big city”—Raleigh. After my time in the ICU, I transitioned to outpatient Plastic Surgery, where I discovered my passion for helping patients regain their confidence and allowing their outward appearance to reflect how they felt on the inside. This passion eventually led me to become an Aesthetic provider. Since then, I have been continually developing my skill set and deepening my love for this field. I am grateful to do what I love every day.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe the biggest challenge in any career is finding your “home”—the company where you truly feel you belong. The Triangle area has many wonderful Aesthetic practices, but finding the right fit took some time. However, I am grateful to have found a positive and uplifting environment where I feel fortunate to work and bring my beautiful clients. My studio home is Amelia.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m an Aesthetic provider, dedicated to helping clients build confidence, slow the progression of aging, and find their own definition of beauty.
I use a variety of modalities, including neurotoxins (e.g., Botox), dermal fillers, laser treatments, and skincare, to address the anatomical changes that occur with aging. My goal is to restore a more youthful appearance, allowing my patients to feel more like themselves.
The artistic aspect of Aesthetics comes into play with the syringe and how the provider uses each precise movement to enhance the face. Every small adjustment—whether it’s a thread or bolus—can significantly impact the overall outcome. This is why each placement truly matters. I combine my understanding of anatomy, my patients’ desires, and my artistic eye for natural results to deliver outcomes that support graceful aging. That’s what I strive for with every client.

I specialize in advanced lip filler technique and full face balancing.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My grandmother loved Christmas—every part of it: the candy, the decorations, and the movies. When I was little, all my cousins on my mom’s side and I would gather at her house to eat her homemade hard candy and watch The Grinch on the floor. She passed away when I was 9, but I still think about those Christmases from my childhood, with everyone together in that living room.
