Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandy Banks.
Hi Brandy, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was raised in the church; I’m a PK (Pastor’s kid) for those who are not familiar with that terminology. I’ve been in the ministry unknowingly since I was seven, if not before then, when I decided to give my life to Christ. I have always had a very close relationship with God and have always been able to hear His voice. Although I did not recognize it at the time, looking back, I can see that He has been with me for as long as I can remember. Growing up in the church, we always practiced lent, which is when we give up something that we enjoy as a sacrifice to God. Lent lasts for 40 days and is used as an opportunity to grow closer to God.
In February of 2020, I was pondering what should I give up for lent and I sought God on it. God spoke to me and told me forgiveness! He told me that He wanted to work on forgiving those that I had not forgiven at the time. Now, at first glance, I thought that I had forgiven people in my past but God started to bring them directly to me and some of them actually apologized and asked for forgiveness and I was just taken aback and in awe at how it all took place. Nonetheless, I took time to reflect and work on myself; I prayed to God and ask for help. I asked Him to soften my heart towards these people. I cried and prayed some more. Once I was able to forgive these people and release myself, God spoke and said now not only do you need forgiveness, but the world needs it and from that, The Forgiveness Movement was birthed!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Forgiveness is not an easy thing to do and it most definitely is not an easy thing to teach. It’s challenging to help people to understand the importance, but it is very rewarding, The amount of people and families that come to me telling me how much I’ve helped them is incredible! I love that I’m able to transform lives through this vision that God gave me. Thankfully because God gave me the vision it’s not as hard as it could be, I just much remain obedient and sensitive to His voice. The Forgiveness Movement has taken up so much of my time that I had to quit my full-time job, which in my opinion is a HUGE BLESSING!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Forgiveness Movement has Forgiven shirts, masks, and wristbands. We offer counseling services currently in an informal setting. We do outdoor vending events where we discuss forgiveness. We do zoom calls surrounding forgiveness and other similar topics. We have recently started our own Radio show, Forgiven Radio. You can tune in on Sunday’s at 6:30 pm EST via iHeartRadio on WDMB media. I have a few different ministries. I teach youth Bible Study, I’m a mental health advocate, and I assist the community with financial literacy and empowerment. I am also educating the community on ways to create generational wealth. What sets me apart is my genuine love and heart to truly help people.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Over the next five years, I see my movement going worldwide. I want to travel the world and speak on forgiveness and speak at different events and host group sessions. I legit want to change the world! One person at a time!
