Life & Work with Lavesh Pritmani of RDU

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lavesh Pritmani

Lavesh, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Our founder Lavesh Pritmani started his Bhangra dance journey almost 20 years ago in the RDU area. He started with teaching at and growing Natya Academy, with over 300 Bhangra students over the course of 10 years. However, after almost a decade of spreading Bhangra in the RDU area, his corporate full time job necessitated him to move to New York City in 2014. He would have to give up all his hard work and everything that he built – until he got the idea to teach dance digitally. Prior to moving to NYC, he launched Learn Bhangra, the world’s first digital Bhangra learning methodology. Thru a free app to download on Android & iOS devices, coupled with a large YouTube channel with hundreds of high quality tutorials and videos, Learn Bhangra grew to become a global presence and the most recognized Bhangra dance learning platform. With over 20 Certified Instructors across 15 countries, Learn Bhangra’s mission is simple, yet crucial – “Bringing Bhangra To Everyone”.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Many challenges, thru legal challenges with content creation to running a successful side business with full time job priorities. However, the passion for Bhangra dance united a global team to come together and turn Learn Bhangra into the world’s most respected and recognized Bhangra dance learning platform.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
The thing that sets Learn Bhangra apart is authenticity and commitment to showing people how the teachings of Bhangra can be incorporated into everyday life. Our company’s academies across the globe sharing a common creed imparted to all students – confidence, discipline, and respect. These teachings come from the process of learning folk Bhangra, which our company strives to promote to a global audience. Many people’s first experience with Bhangra comes thru our company, and we want to ensure that the understand the true essence and power of this beautiful dance form.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Have a list of questions ready for what you want to learn from a mentor. Come prepared to meet with them, and if possible, know what you might be able to do for them.
