Today we’d like to introduce you to Alonza Mitchell.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts freshman year of college at East Carolina University. I originally went to school for acting but I saw that it wasn’t something that I wanted to go to school for in the first semester. Trying to decide what I wanted to do with my life I met a guy who lived down the hall from me who did photography.
We became friends and at first, I wanted to be in front of the camera but he inspired me to get behind the camera. Eventually, I bought my own camera on January 22 of 2017 and that’s when my journey began. I remember when I first started, I was taking photos of everything from landscape to cars, and people. Portraits stood out the most to me. There is something about capturing a person’s expression. As I grew over the years I fell in love with fashion photography also. Being able to create whatever you think with whoever you want.
I’ve been doing photography for about 4 years but I feel like I’m just getting started. Last year (2020) I was published in my first international magazine! Elle Arabia December 2020 Issue. This year (2021) I was published in my second international magazine Cosmopolitan Bulgaria June 2021 issue and more to come!
I’m so thankful that God has given me this gift and the doors he has opened for me. It always reminds me of his word in Proverbs 18:16 “A man’s gift will make room for him, and brings him before great men.” I’m excited to see the people I will meet, the rooms I will be in, and the doors I will enter in the near future!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve learned that you have to go out for your dreams! I am a man of faith, but faith without works is dead. You have to grind and inherit the hustle! This is the only way that I can achieve these dreams.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The name of my Business is Alonza Mitchell Multimedia LLC. I specialize in portraiture and high fashion photography. I am most proud of being able to connect with each client and fulfill the desires of their vision. What sets me apart from others is my creative eye and thinking process for each project.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I believe that purpose matters to me the most. I know that I’m walking on purpose because of all of the lives that I have been able to touch with photography. Everything else will be a by-product of me walking in my purpose.
