Today we’d like to introduce you to Artistry .

Artistry

Hi Artistry, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes of course, and thank you for this interview with your stellar magazine. It’s a great honor.

Well I’ve been in arts and entertainment all of my life. Everyone in my family is blessed by God Himself with gifts and talents and I’m no exception. My earliest memories of such is when I was seven, helping my dad write songs for his album and recording with him. And beginning writing my first novel as well. Although growing up, I never wanted to take art seriously as a career, it was always made to be a pipe dream, a fantasy. I did always love real estate, sales and business too. Since society, and even my own family, seemed to view the arts as unfathomable, business was always going to be a necessary part of the world’s function. I already loved it anyway. By the time I was 18, once I tried to be in university, I found I was being stifled, taught by people who aren’t, and have never been, entrepreneurs themselves. So I dropped out and started my own company, having money from an internship turned job to help get me started.

Eventually I was able to get funding for my company PROH, LLC that I started in 2016. I signed myself to my company’s entertainment division, PROH ENTERTAINMENT, and artists Jhay Asjawn and TravieeTre wanted to sign on with my company as well. We started recording our own music in our apartments, being mentored by engineers and learning the ins and outs of mixing and sound, and loved every moment. As we released our music on SoundCloud, music that we went to real studios to get done, we started to see traction in our individual artistic prowess. Subsequently people noticed our work more and more. With all of us working on our artistic craft and as we fully established PROH and the systems of how we operate, it became like clockwork. We all began fully releasing on streaming platforms in 2019 and continue to work toward elevating PROH operations; individually and collectively.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh no, things have definitely not always been smooth. Unfortunately I made a crucial business error in taking risks for the company. In 2017 I wanted to begin working to invest in real estate and get the company’s acquisitions and investments division going. The property I found was perfect; single family home, cash flowing, good return in the future and present. I was trying to work with a private lender, to avoid the hassle of traditional banks’ requirements. But when I put up the money, the “private lender” took the money and ran with it. They used my naivety against me, a 22 year old who just had some spiritual hustle and ambition. But that ambition lost me a good amount of money for a young man at the time, up to $15k. Not only that, but I lost the internship turned job as well, plus another couple sources of income I had established. I lost my apartment and had to move back in with my parents, my credit was in the toilet, plus I had this debt of $15k on my head. Not to mention student loan payments from my three semesters at university. It was a heavy time for me, indeed.

Fast forward to me working to try and climb out, while still being of service, I ran into a few more people in the real estate realm that ended up treating me similarly. One particular instance was a year or so ago, when I was about to purchase this piece of property in my parents’ neighborhood. I had it under contract but I made a deal to sell it to another investor. Well I just asked for a small fee for my services of even bringing him the deal and running the numbers. But once I came to collect my check at the closing it was half what we agreed upon. And by that time there was nothing he could do, although he knew he could have done something before the close.

Also, my family hasn’t necessarily approved of my actions either. It’s been a long and arduous process but when I left school everyone came down on me heavily. We made it through, and back to a place of understanding. I’m just a bit separated from them in a sense. I do very much love my family, and to this day I stick by them, make effort to visit and stay in touch, and I’d do anything to help them; including staying the course with this journey I’m on. However there were things said and done, that have been forgiven and moved on from, but of course we always know how those relationships can be. Especially when you’re not trodding along the beaten path.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I’ve said my company, PROH, LLC has two divisions: PROH ENTERTAINMENT and PROH Acquisitions & Investments. Under both there are many things that are being done.

For my art I have written two novels, both are on Amazon. I’m finishing a novella that will also be on Amazon next year and Apple Books as well. My specific strength is my writing ability, but I also make music; I play guitar and write my own lyrics for any rap, or singing, verse. I also can sing and I love to act; I used to be in plays all of the time as a kid and performed a lot of singing on stages as well. Speaking of, I just completed a short film for a song from an album I’m about to put out next year. All of these things combined is why I am Artistry.

Under the acquisitions and investments division I oversee investments to be made or assets to be sold or held. Currently we’re getting ready to get back into investing after the whole loss of money and credit damage that happened way back then, thank the Lord. Credit is being repaired and funding is prayerfully on the horizon soon. Once that is done we’ll be branching into gold and other means of investing and wealth building.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
This is my only essential quality in my eyes, and the only reason for any of my success: I am saved by, and truly a proud follower and friend of, Jesus Christ. My relationship with God is truly my most prized possession in life; it’s the only thing I have. Nothing else compares, and in comparison all things are utterly meaningless. Anything that anyone loves, or even hates, about me is because of how God has shaped me through His plan for me, and my walk with Him.
