Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney Winter.
Hi Courtney , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started Events by P3 to only do Event planning back in 2010. I had been volunteering to face paint for the community for a few events for years and I was asked to paint for a festival and get paid. I was ecstatic! This job led to a few other birthday parties and enough money to pay for t-shirts, business cards and even my website. I felt very discourage as I wanted to do weddings and it was 8 months into the business starting and I was still working full time. I thought about stopping because all I had gotten were face painting jobs. God had a bigger plan, and I had a call the next day for my first wedding.
I then got asked to do photography for my friend’s wedding and before you know it my P3 was full circle. Planning, Painting, and Photography. I had no idea what God had in store but here I am 15 years later and proud to say we are one of the premiere face painters in our area, I have planned so many weddings and photographed births, family events, created art on a child for their first time and made them smile! I am truly Blessed and have the best job ever. The most amazing part is I get to paint and create art with my brother who has played a vital part in my success, and now my daughter has started working with me face painting. This has been a family ran business 100% as both my sisters have worked with me, all 3 of my girls, and even my husband! Whether he is helping with setup, being my second shooter and even my assistant for weddings! He has been my biggest fan.
I hope that I am creating a legacy to pass down to my girls, but all in all I am proud of the joy that we bring to people’s hearts. These will be core memories for sure.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I lost two business partners within the first 6 months of business, Covid put me out of work for 18 months
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are one of the Premiere face painters in our area. We face paint all over Eastern NC and are starting to expand into other areas. We have worked for Carolina Beach for over 15 years, We work with all our Parks departments for yearly events, the City of Wilmington, Live Nation, Toyota, Town of Yanceyville, NC ZOO and so many more!
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my best childhood memories is we would always put on talent shows in the living room. We would dress up, sing, and dance. We would even have “tickets” to the show and set up seating.
