Meet Essie Lane

Today we’d like to introduce you to Essie Lane.

Hi Essie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a child, instead of waking up on Saturday eager to watch cartoons, I went with my Mom to her beauty salon in downtown Goldsboro. I swept for her between customers and handed her endpapers during hair services. Always around the salon, I developed my own love for hair and fashion. I always had a flair and love for the beauty industry. I went to school and became a licensed hairstylist.

During the course of being a licensed hairstylist, I developed a passion to help and assist students to become future stylists, I became a licensed Beauty Educator. After being a part of the beauty industry for 26 years, I start to really lean toward my passion for fashion and helping people find great style by offering them the opportunity to purchase amazing accessories. I gave birth to Color Me Sassy Boutique four years ago. My online boutique features Handbag sets, Fedora Hats and accessories like necklace sets, rings, bracelets and shade glasses. Yes, my goal is to help women to look and feel their best no matter what they have been through or are going through. As a Boutique Owner, I encourage Women to work hard and to be Independent and to learn to be Business Professionals no matter what line of business. I encourage them to take courage over any and every situation that they may face and I let them know that there’s nothing that they can’t achieve. My Mother inspired me to be an Entrepreneur and I want to be an example to my kids to let them know that they can be Entrepreneurs as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been easy. I’m a single mom of three wonderful Teenagers. Their father passed away 11 years ago. I had to learn to multi-task being a Mom and a business owner. There were times that I didn’t have money to operate a business and it took great sacrifice but I managed to continue to pursue. God-given passion, persistence and dedication is what has caused my business to grow to where it is today. My children have been my greatest motivation.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the owner of an Online Boutique called Color Me Sassy Boutique. I accessorize outfit selections for individuals and I help them with their final look. Often this requires dedication of time to find the look that’s just right. Many times I wardrobe style for people that just don’t have a clue where to start and then I’m able to properly accessorize their look with accessories from my Boutique, I get so excited. I absolutely positively love what I do. I love helping people find their “Slay”.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I don’t call it luck I simply call it BLESSED. I’ve been blessed with the gift of Fashion Design. I can put it all together. I see it in my head first and then I put it all together.
