Meet Jillian Becker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jillian Becker.

Hi Jillian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the salon industry for almost 15 years in Maryland until my husband and I moved down here to Raleigh in 2019 to be closer to family. Building a clientele from scratch is difficult, especially being a mom of two and working around everyone’s schedules. After a few months of living here, I realized the house we bought had the perfect front studio space for a salon. I never thought I would want to work out of my house, but I couldn’t deny the excitement of owning my own space and the flexibility of making my own schedule. The pandemic hit a few months later which gave me the opportunity to put the finishing touches on my new studio space. Covid 19 has had a major impact on the beauty industry but I am extremely blessed to have a private space that people can feel safe, comfortable and pampered. I love that I can make people feel beautiful not only on the outside but on the inside as well. Continuing education is paramount this day and age with my industry therefore I am Schwarzkopf Color certified, Brazilian Blowout certified, and Business of Balayage certified.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Obviously, the biggest challenge has been the pandemic. Salons were closed for months and when reopening began, it was only at 50%. The upside is since I am a private studio, keeping up with CDC guidelines is relatively easy since I only take one guest at a time. This ensures that each guest receives 100% of my attention throughout the duration of their service. I also see that people are trending to want a more private, intimate salon experience now rather than the hustle and bustle of a regular salon.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
It is amazing how enhancing your hair color can change the way you feel about yourself. That being said, I specialize in all things balayage, blonde and beautiful! There are so many trends right now but the one trend that I see lasting a long time is “lived-in color.” This is a multi dimensional look that gives the guest a natural brightness without the upkeep of traditional coloring. I love creating looks and colors that last and look beautiful while maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My biggest cheerleader and teammate throughout this process has been my husband. Not only has he been 100% supportive of me, but he has also been excited about this journey for me which makes this that much more special.
