Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathryn Salisbury.
Hi Kathryn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working from home several years ago and found myself missing out on the human interaction I was used to. I knew I wanted to get a hobby to have something to fill my free time. I started thinking… what am I good at? The first thing that came to mind was makeup! I’ve always loved beauty products and trying new looks. So I started my blog and changed my Instagram name and Kats Beautiful Tomorrows was born! I wanted to encourage other women to be confident in their own skin and share my love of beauty products as well!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The influencer world is so saturated that it can definitely be hard to get noticed. My growth the first year went pretty slowly and that can be very discouraging when you’re spending so much time and effort on content.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I focus on plus-size fashion and beauty products! I love sharing makeup tips and showing great plus-size fashion brands for my followers. I also talk about other things I’m interested in such as enneagram info, politics, and mental health. My favorite part of my platform is connecting with my followers. It’s really why I started it, as a way to connect with others and it’s been the best part. I try my best to always be open, honest, and authentic with my followers. It means a lot to me to stay true to myself. One thing I’m most proud of is that I’ve really found my voice in the past few months to start speaking on controversial topics that are very important to me. I’ve finally decided to put aside what others think and not stay silent on issues I feel passionately about.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Personally, covid has taught me to do my own research and think for myself more. It’s important to do your own fact-checking and not simply take things at face value. I’m hopeful that we can move forward and pass all of this soon.
