Kimberly Anderson

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well I have always enjoyed love and all it brings. In 2017 one of my dearest closet friend became engaged. It was such an amazing engagement. My friend reached out and said she wanted me to come over for dinner so we can start talking about the wedding. She already had her wedding book created. So this was going to be so much fun. When I walked in she already had the wedding boxes and items to go inside. So we had a nice dinner after putting the boxes together. She was like I have a surprise for you Kim.

Instead of you being my Maid of Honor or Bridesmaid. I want you to be my Wedding Officiant. Her words were that she feels the love and compassion that I bring daily. I was so honored. She registered me and bought my first packet for me to perform there wedding. I performed Karen & Josh on 9/17/2017. This was the beginning of my Business. I Moved to North Carolina in October 2017. Met a woman by the Name of Brandi Oliver, she was running a Baking Business. Brandi told me the steps I needed to do to get my business started.

Here a few Obstacles and Challenges

Difficulty Building Credit or Attracting Investors: Lack of Funds has been hard to establish and prove my Business Plan can flourish. Funding in the Future is so hard to obtain.

Not Having Capital is hard to purchase day to day items like inventory, marketing to build a stronger brand. Missed growth opportunities, Also to help with Traveling expense, Wedding Expos, and Accepting Contracts that you have to purchase items or pay for the booking sites for leads. Having to rely on personal funds to help grow the business.

Lost my older sister and the savings I was starting to build had to use to travel home and help pay for the funeral. Lost a job a full time job and had to take a pay cut, which took away the ability to put money back in to my business.

Personal Credit is not the best which has hinder me from being able to get Business Credit.

Having to doing everything myself under financial restraint, wears you down. Hard to Maintain positive mind set.

Here are ways I have used to Find A Mentor

1. Attending Wedding Expos and Bridal shows most have been in the business a while. You can introduce yourself and gain knowledge then begin to build a networking team of mentors.

2. Engaging in online Communities Linked-in, Facebook & Instagram.
Search for your niche- such as Wedding Professionals Network ,Officiants of America, etc Join groups share insight and Message people whose careers you admire.

3. Targeted Out Reach aka Word of Mouth- Reaching out to Event Planners, Wedding Boutiques sharing what I do and asking if they could make some time to chat and see if they are willing to share how they got started. Possible any pointers they could share.
