Meet Niya Moton of Elyse LaRoux Essentials

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niya Moton.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Elyse LaRoux Essentials was born during the pandemic of 2020.

I was in the process of pulling away from a chemically induced lifestyle. The more I read about the ingredients in the body care products I used, the more I became discouraged and annoyed. I desired a natural approach to skincare for myself and my family.

We were going through a host of ailments with our skin and hair. At the time, I was experiencing hair loss and periodic eczema. My son is highly allergic to many synthetic products, as well as nuts and soy.

He has had many allergic reactions and I was at my wit’s end. I started researching natural healing through essential oils. Being a lab-tech by trade, I started formulating skin and hair products right out of my kitchen. When speaking with neighbors and friends, I realized that most people wanted a natural approach to skincare.

I started to share my products with my neighbors and friends and realized that I was on to something. The Sleep Time Bath Kit came from inspiration from parents around the world needing their little ones to settle at bedtime. I started to sell this product on social media and it became a family favorite. Since then we have added more natural products with an elegant touch and look.

Artisan soap, body butter, salves, and botanical soap have become my best sellers.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. As a business owner, I felt like I had to do everything at first. I am such a textile person. I need to touch, smell, and experience the things that bring me joy.

That’s why vending comes easy for me because I am a people person. So learning how to be present on social media was quite an adjustment.

I have learned to outsource that aspect of my business so I can focus on continuing to create quality products.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Elyse LaRoux Essentials specializes in creating natural bath products for adults and children. Our products provide aromatherapy with high-quality essential oils. Everything is handmade in small batches to provide the best quality our customers deserve.

We are proud to promote self-care and strongly believe that a well-rested you is a benefit to the world. We believe that relaxation will refresh, revitalize, and restore you to a better you. Our natural products include bath steamers, bath teas, uplifting and relaxing soap, healing balms, body butter, sugar scrubs, and more. We have products that are formulated for the gentlest skin.

Our lavender chamomile soap and salve is a great choice to soothe a restless little one. How I picked the name of my company is very special to me. My husband and I had two sons and dreamed of our next child being a girl. We chose the name Elyse LaRoux a name similar to one of my favorite singers Amel Larrieux. Her voice is one of a kind and I knew Elyse would be as special as that voice.

Well, we ended up having another boy and I was a little sad that that little girl never materialized. I kept the name close to my heart. Three years later, I was praying for a business name. It was as if the name struck me like lightning! “Elyse LaRoux Essentials!”

My baby girl has finally arrived.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I would not consider myself a big risk-taker. Risk-taking to me means that you are gambling with your security.

But when you have a dream, or a purpose to do something that you know will be beneficial to others, you forget about the risks. You just help! That is what I have found myself doing. I don’t focus on the risk as much anymore. I find that when I only think of the risks, I never move into my destiny.

Now, I have chosen to focus on understanding my assignment and that is to help others experience less stress and anxiety through self-care.
