Meet Taryn Dixon of Dixon’s Dollops

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taryn Dixon.

Hi Taryn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Dixon’s Dollops came to be in 2015. I was attending North Carolina State University at the time, was working towards a Master’s of Social Work degree. Halfway through the program, I began to feel a strong pull towards business and entrepreneurship so I decided to listen to it. I had to do some soul searching to determine not only what I was passionate about but what would also do well in the market.

It didn’t take long before I realized I would want to do food. Had always loved cooking and baking and was well aware of my addiction to chocolate and peanut butter. After that point, I knew I had found my product, a chocolate and peanut butter confection – a Dollop! Shortly thereafter, I quit the social work program and went full-time on my business from day 1.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not always been a smooth road. The hardest challenges were mainly technical things. Figuring out packaging, production, state inspections, logistics of delivering the product, etc. These things are just part of the whole, you learn more and more as you go along and you make your decisions as you gather more information. The other challenges worth mentioning come from you. Your ability to maintain a positive, optimistic mindset is an ongoing challenge, but it’s also the most important thing to keep an eye on.

We’ve been impressed with Dixon’s Dollops, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dixon’s Dollops are hand-crafted chocolate peanut butter truffles: Creamy, Crunchy, w/Nutella®, w/Salted Caramel. Anyone who has a taste for the chocolate and peanut butter combination should definitely try Dollops. Each Dollop has the perfect ratio of chocolate to peanut butter and the varieties with an extra flavor make it that much better. To grab a box of Dollops, please visit the Butcher’s Market – Raleigh or Cary locations.
