Rising Stars: Meet Amanda Bittner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Bittner.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina right after college graduation and fell in love with exploring the city. Any given weeknight or weekend, you could find me trying a new restaurant, checking out the street festivals, and searching for hidden gems. Seven years later, I’m still finding something new to do and share every week in Raleigh and beyond. Meanwhile, I’ve loved sharing all of my Raleigh and weekend getaway experiences on social media. In 2020, I launched a blog that focuses on my local adventures and travel experiences. I want my content to encourage people to never stop exploring!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! Social media has been a blessing and curse. It’s a great creative outlet for me and seeing incredible content from other creators every day inspires me to raise the bar. On the other hand, working as a content creator with a strong focus on social media can be tough with constant comparison to others and feeling like you constantly have to be posting the latest, coolest spots to keep up. Plus, there are so many platforms and algorithms to stay on top of!

Another challenge I’ve encountered is other folks stealing my content and using it for their business. I work hard on my content, and the majority of the time I’m unpaid. It’s definitely frustrating to see other accounts take my content without my permission and use it for their business. Always ask for permission, and always credit (or pay) the creator!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Outside of my full-time job as a marketing director, I am a content creator, travel blogger, and photographer. My content focuses on inspiring people to fill their lives with adventure and their camera roll with memories. Whether it’s planning a nearby weekend getaway, trying a new coffee shop in their city, or heading to a new country, I encourage my audience to never stop exploring.

I’m most proud of all of the work I’ve done to get me where I am today in my career. I don’t have a marketing degree and didn’t go to school for marketing, photography, or anything creative. But when Instagram started to take off, I fell in love with sharing cool experiences on social media and dreamed of one day having a career in this field. And here I am!

I think what sets me apart from others is my casual, relatable style of content. I don’t have the fanciest equipment, I actually don’t plan out my posts in advance on a calendar (eek- I should!), and I don’t promote anything I don’t believe in. I try to keep it real, provide value, and make people laugh or feel inspired to explore with my posts!

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I LOVE this question! I’m always open to collaborations with businesses, brands, and creators doing cool things. Send me a DM or email anytime and let’s figure out a way to help each other!

If you’re not a business, you can support me (and other content creators!) with likes, comments, shares, and saves on any of my social media content that resonates with you.
