Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheyenne Levinson.
Hi Cheyenne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a mom to two kiddos ages 7 and 2 and love exploring our beautiful state with them. Last year I started to see parents really struggle with being isolated and needing opportunities to explore and get outside with their families. I saw a lack of easy-to-digest, fun, and inclusive content geared towards families in the area and decided to create an IG account to highlight all of the amazing family fun in the triangle.
What started as a fun side project to share local adventures and businesses has turned into a community of families who are excited to try new things, meet new people, and explore the triangle! The content we post is so helpful because parents know what to expect from an experience before spending their own time, money, and energy. The businesses are grateful for the exposure and we are constantly discovering new places to feature. My list of places to visit for Triangle Families Explore is literally never-ending.
I recently launched the Triangle Families Explore Adventure Club and host a few events a month to connect the community! We’ve done two paddleboarding events and a wonderful family yoga event which was a fundraiser for Raleigh City Farm. Our events are booked through Field Day which is an awesome new app that connects families to activities for their kids!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of my goals for the platform and community is to be inclusive and welcoming to all types of people. This comes with a huge amount of responsibility. I’m learning how to navigate taking a stand on important topics and holding myself accountable to having hard conversations in an effort to create a safe space for families.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Triangle Families Explore is my hobby and Field Day is my job! I’m the Director of Community Outreach for Field Day and am so grateful I’ve been able to weave Triangle Families Explore into what Field Day is doing. Field Day is an app that connects families to activities for their kids and just launched in the triangle this week! The team is so wonderful and the mission of inspiring kids to try new things perfectly aligns with our goals at Triangle Families Explore.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
It took me months to build up the courage to start Triangle Families Explore. When you work on a project that aligns with your soul purpose it can be terrifying to put yourself out there and be seen. I think the best advice is to listen to your inner knowing, follow your heart, and don’t be afraid to mess up (and if you do mess up, own it!)
