Rising Stars: Meet Jasmyne Inkrote of Raleigh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmyne Inkrote

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Through my own journey of purchasing our first home at 24, we, my husband and I, did not know what the process looked like at all and did not really have any guidance or education throughout the journey. After completing that transaction, I knew I wanted to not only help new homeowners, but make sure they knew what they were doing. I wanted to make sure they knew the ins and outs of the transaction and after closing, I continued to educate them on how they can use their homes to increase their wealth.

I started my career at State Employees’ Credit Union. During the course of my time there, I began as a teller and then worked my way up to being a licensed Mortgage Loan officer. It was at that time that I found my passion for helping first time homebuyers realize that it is possible for them to purchase a home. After 3 years at State Employees’ Credit Union, I decided to go into Retail Mortgage Lending with the hopes of helping more families realize their dream of homeownership.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been some obstacles that I had to overcome over the last couple of years, the main obstacle being the market. The housing market is unpredictable some days and having to learn to navigate that especially during the uncertain times can become overwhelming. However, having my family to support kept me motivated and resilient. Another challenge has been the transition from having members who would walk into the bank and say they want to purchase a home versus in retail where I built my client base from scratch. Trust and education are two of the most important pillars when working in the financial industry. People are very particular about who they discuss their finances with, couple that with a lack of financial literacy- it becomes difficult to gain a potential client’s trust. As a result, I am often hosting homebuyer seminars and have a weekly segment on my social platforms every Wednesday- called “Winning Wednesdays” to connect and to educuate potential buyers, additionally, I am working on my first book and a webinar to assist in educating the public and encourage trust and financial literacy. Financial literacy is important to me, because it is difficult to attain wealth if we do not have the tools to lay the foundation for building wealth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This year, I was recognized as a Top 10 Loan Officer of NAREBs (National Association of Real Estate Brokers) Top 100- This category honors the top 10 African American lenders or loan officers who have exhibited excellence in their role. These professionals have facilitated homeownership for countless individuals and families, displaying proficiency, commitment, and remarkable service in the mortgage industry. This recognition was truly an honor because it highlights the work that I have also done in the Black community, specifically with first time buyers, to bridge the wealth gap.

When it comes to what sets me apart from others, I’ve got a few standout qualities:

Genuine Connection: I treat my clients like family, using my natural, down-to-earth communication style to build trust and long-lasting relationships. This personal touch is something my clients appreciate and remember.

Passion for Black Wealth: My commitment to increasing Black homeownership isn’t just a part of my job—it’s my mission. I’m not just closing loans; I am helping to build generational wealth and strengthen communities.

Innovative Approach: I am always ahead of the curve, whether it’s using AI to close deals faster or offering unique loan products like No Overlay VA loans. My ability to adapt and embrace new tools makes me a leader in the field.

Educational Focus: Through initiatives like ‘Winning Wednesdays,’ I make it a priority to educate my clients. I empower them to make informed decisions, ensuring they’re not just getting a loan but also understanding every step of the process.

Resilience and Determination: My journey hasn’t been easy, but I have faced challenges head-on and turned them into opportunities. My resilience in overcoming obstacles, whether they’re market-related or personal, inspires those around me.

Servant Leadership: With a servant’s heart, I genuinely care about my clients’ financial well-being. I am not just in it for the transaction; I am in it to see people improve their lives through homeownership.

These qualities don’t just make me a successful MLO—they make me someone people want to work with and recommend to others.
