Today we’d like to introduce you to Pamela Lietz.
Hi Pamela, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Having been a shutterbug since I was a child, snapping pix was a hobby I enjoyed while being a health care administrator for 20+ years. I was giving a talk at Raleigh Convention Center and TapSnap was there to create some fun during breaks. I was smitten with the technology and the fabulous customer service; I still have my first picture from that TapSnap event. As I’ve matured in my career, I’ve trusted myself and knew that TapSnap Photo Booths was something I would love doing and I bought a franchise in the Triangle.
Start-up is time-consuming no matter what industry you’re in, but I loved the events themselves making all the time and energy worth it. Pre-pandemic, my business was about 75% corporate and 25% social; as we are coming out of the pandemic, the social events have re-started more quickly and that ratio is almost flipped as this interview goes to press.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every business has its challenges and owning high-tech photo booths is no different. I quickly learned to outsource functions that are not my favorite things to do: I outsource payroll, use QuickBooks and have a great CPA. As a franchise, I have the opportunity to take advantage of corporate functions such as our CRM, proposal writing, and the Tech Team is the best in the industry whether being available 24/7 to take over the computer at an event or pivot to a Virtual Booth during a pandemic.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
TapSnap is known for the best picture quality in the event business. We stand apart because we use DSLR cameras, lab-quality printers, and professional lighting to make great pictures. I thoroughly enjoy creating one-of-a-kind experiences, whether it’s through custom graphics, green screen technology, or unique GIFs. The people part of my job is getting to know the guests in 20 seconds and bringing out natural smiles or getting them to do something memorable if they are the funsters in the group. Handing guests their 4×6 hi-res print never gets old.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We work with a variety of clients: large and small corporations whether it’s for an employee party or an expo to drive traffic to their business. Corporate Event Planners also contract with us for their clients’ events. Not-for-profits can drive home their mission with brand identity and building social media capital. We also collaborate with brides and their mothers to make the photo booth exactly the experience they want their guests to have whether at the reception, rehearsal dinner, or bridal shower. Other occasions where photo booths enhance the celebration include Galas, Live Performances, Camps, Proms, Mitzvahs, and Golf Tourneys to name a few.
