Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ruiz.
Hi Stephanie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Our core values became the groundwork for creating Mystic Roots Company; networking, community, and supporting local businesses. I strongly believe that when you ask about Stephanie Ruiz and Roger Moore, our communities will tell you we’re more than just those “plant people.”
Rollback to our established year, 2020, our company’s seed of intention was first planted on opening a brick-and-mortar shop to sell plants and crystals, but little did we know that a pandemic would alter and elevate those goals. As nature lovers, like many others, we created personal jungles in our homes and quickly realized how much time and knowledge went into maintenance and care. Boom! That was it, there was a void in our communities, and our business needed to mold with the times.
We offer everything from interior plant design, plant care, and maintenance. As well as, host various workshops and events about plants, moon energy, meditation, and holistic healing.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh, absolutely not! Any entrepreneur can tell you that running a business is a hell of a rollercoaster filled with many ups and downs. I honestly don’t believe it’ll ever be constant. Steady yes, but never constant. A struggle I can vividly remember is having doubts about mystic workshop ideas. We’re currently residing in small towns that can be considered on the more conservative side. So naturally, we were a bit uneasy about the backlash we would receive from our first “New Moon Ritual” that was hosted at “The Workshop”.
Little did we know we would be embraced by many in our communities that were like-minded and were yearning for a safe space to exchange thoughts about certain things that may seem taboo to others. Next thing we know, North Carolina’s PBS network asked to film our first class and interview us for their “NC Weekend” episode. Yes, our very first time airing on TV! This led to selling out on almost every workshop afterward. Naturally, all this excitement paved the way for us to really feel confident about creating our next big hits, “Sip and Pot.” Which we partnered with local breweries, Red Oak and Bull City Ciderworks. Yes, just like it sounds you drink beer/cider, share some laughs, learn and pot a plant as you go.
In conclusion, in business, we will continuously learn as we go. As if conducting a trial-and-error experiment, that we refuse to give up on. I simply have to trust every day that if we have a vision, we’ll somehow find a way.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Apart from being known for all mystic things and plants, what sets us apart is how collaborative and supportive we are with local businesses and local artists. Our ideas generate around how can this help us and help you on the way.
How can we pair your idea, skill, or talent with our event or plants to create something no one has seen or experienced. We strongly believe that when we help one another we can achieve higher greatness and open even bigger opportunities. If we can’t help you then we’ll direct you to who we know will, as the result of all the networking we love to do.
In every one of our events, we open the floor to everyone so they introduce themselves and share their career or goals. We do this because like we tell them, “you never know who is sitting next to you and how they might be able to help or guide you.” Usually, there is always someone we meet that shares insight on something we may need. Bam! A connection.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Mystic Roots Co., is thriving because we create atmospheres filled with experiences that are not only enjoyable but filled with knowledge. Knowledge is power.
We share what has genuinely helped us grow spiritually and mentally. We share our resources and connections. We want our community to grow. We may not be able to help the world but we know it starts by making a difference in the community where you reside!
