Who taught you the most about work?

Society has its myths about where we learn – internships, books, school, etc. However, in our conversations with some of the most interesting and trailblazing entrepreneurs and creatives we noticed the biggest lessons they learned about work often came from unexpected sources. We’ve shared some of those responses below.

Mark McNally

My parents definitely shaped my work ethic from an early age. Especially my Dad, who sadly passed away in 2024. I watched both of them work two jobs back in Belfast, Ireland just to give us what we needed as a family. Read more>>

My father, a pastor, devoted himself to his calling with passion. He didn’t view it as work in a traditional sense, though. He thrived on learning and studying. Our house was chock full of theological books. Any spare moment was spent reading them. He wanted to share that joy with his congregation, and nothing thrilled him more to be asked a hard question.
