An Inspired Chat with Danielle Barcos of Wilmington

We recently had the chance to connect with Danielle Barcos and have shared our conversation below.

Danielle, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I am chasing for memories and moments. The same that others are chasing when they reach out for photos. I’m chasing travel, I absolutely love to travel and it makes me even happier when I get to photograph couples in new places. It really motivates me and gives me more of a creative mind.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Danielle, a Destination Wedding photographer serving out of coastal North Carolina. I have been photographing weddings for 5 years now and photographing in general for years since I can think back on. My brand is based on being a relaxed, coastal, true to color and bright vibe. A mix of my personality and favorite place as well as my favorite colors. I really am so terrible at explaining who I am because I am just a simple person. The simple things make me happy. Give me a book, camera, and coffee and I’m good to go. As a business owner I’m working on better serving my clients right now. I want to provide them the best service I can and show up for them fully.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Once I became a mother. I saw the world totally different in a better way. Everyday we are learning and becoming more aware of things and how we can be better in this world and I strive to teach my kids how to be good humans.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been a few times over the years I almost gave up. Running your own small business and being a mom definitely has tested my limits here and there. However, I worked around the obstacles and have been making it work since in a way I can really strive. Having my second child really helped me take a step back and realize I can go at a slower pace and still do what I love without getting burnt out.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Family. My husband and kids are the most important things to me and they always come first.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not traveling to new places. That’s all I’ve ever wanted was to travel the world and the last couple years I’ve been trying to explore new cities and countries. I really want to photograph couples in these new places too. It brings me such joy to experience new cultures and cities and even more happiness when I get to do what I love which is photography.
