We recently had the chance to connect with Kenedra Campbell and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Kenedra, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I’ve recently earned 2 undergraduate certificates. One in digital design and one in web design.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Kenedra Campbell, I prefer to be called Kenni and my business name is Kenni Lamair Art LLC. What makes my business interesting is that, I am a one woman show. I create all of my artwork from scratch, one piece at a time. I am currently 13 credits away from completing my BS in Web and Digital Design, with the University of Maryland Global Campus. This makes my business unique because, not only is every piece original, but so is my website and business package (business cards, business flyers, emails, ads, etc.) are all designed and produced by me.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My father taught me the most about work. Growing up in Atlanta, my father has always worked two jobs and at one point in my childhood, he even worked three jobs to financially support my sister and I and in order to reach his personal goals as a man and as a father. My father showed and taught me that, whatever you want in this life and whatever you want in your life, you have to be willing to discipline yourself and work hard to achieve your goals.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one kind thing to my younger self, it would be:
Believe in yourself, ferociously and unapologetically, and that you are exactly who you think and believe you are.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe that good things happen to you, more than bad things. The universe works in mysterious ways and it always works in your favor.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That no matter what challenge, obstacle, or hardship life throws at you, you will always persevere and come out on top, as long as you keep moving forward.
