We’re looking forward to introducing you to LaDonna Williams. Check out our conversation below.
LaDonna, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My day starts out with affirmations, prayer and a journal entry. I then sit outside with my dog and just enjoy the morning air on my porch.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is LaDonna and I’m the owner of Quirky Innovations. I’m a professional balloon artist. Quick story behind my business: I’ve always been the creative friend — the one who thinks way outside the box and loves making magic out of ordinary things. Throwing big, bold parties for my kids was kind of my unofficial training ground! When my corporate job let me go, I took it as a not-so-subtle nudge from the universe to lean into my passion full-time — and here we are!
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
At the heart of it, misunderstanding, pride, and lack of communication are what break bonds. When people stop listening, assume the worst, or let ego lead the way, even the strongest connections can start to crack. It’s not always big betrayals—it’s often the small, unspoken things that build walls.
But you know what restores them? Grace. Real, honest conversations. Humility. And the willingness to see each other’s hearts again. Forgiveness doesn’t always mean forgetting—it means choosing connection over being “right.” And when love leads and both people show up willing to heal, broken bonds can become even stronger than before.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
Losing my three siblings changed me forever. It’s a pain that never fully goes away — it just reshapes how you move through the world. Each loss left a hole, a silence, a memory I’ll always carry. For a while, I didn’t know what healing even looked like. Grief can feel like it swallows you whole.
But over time, I realized that healing isn’t about “getting over” it — it’s about growing around it. I’ve learned to hold space for both the sadness and the joy. My siblings live on through the way I love, create, and keep showing up. I heal by honoring their memory, by living a life that feels full and meaningful, and by letting my faith and community carry me when I’m too tired to carry myself.
Grief shaped me — but it didn’t break me. And that, to me, is its own kind of miracle.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely, 1000% YES. What you see is what you get — on camera, off camera, at a pop-up, in the grocery store, period. I don’t put on for people and I don’t shrink myself to make anyone else comfortable. I’m loud when I laugh, I show up with love, and I mean what I say.
I’ve learned that trying to be someone you’re not just to please folks will drain your spirit — and I’m not doing that. Ever. I’m me, and I like me. So if you rock with me, great! If not? That’s okay too… I’m still gonna shine exactly how God made me. 💁🏽♀️✨
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What light inside you have you been dimming?
Honestly? Me. I’ve been dimming myself. My creativity, my voice, my brilliance — all because I didn’t want to seem “too much” or take up too much space. I haven’t always put myself out there the way I should. I’ve played it small, waited to be seen, instead of stepping out and showing people who I am and what I bring to the table.
But I’m done with that. My light was never meant to be hidden — and the world can’t benefit from what I do if I’m busy hiding behind fear or “what will people think.” I’ve got something special, and it’s time to stop dimming and start shining. Boldly. Unapologetically. Loud and proud — just how God made me.
