We recently had the chance to connect with Skye Elmore and have shared our conversation below.
Skye, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What are you being called to do now, that you may have been afraid of before?
My purpose is to advance autism awareness and community support. While I’m working on my public visibility, I thrive on connecting with others and sharing their inspiring stories. My vision is to create measurable progress that strengthens the autism community and supports their families.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Skye. I’m one of the co-host of the No Manual, Just Love podcast. Our podcast focuses on spreading autism awareness, sharing the stories of providers and individuals, and supporting families within the autism community.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My son’s autism diagnosis was a defining moment that revealed the severe lack of support for autistic individuals and their families, and the general reluctance to fight for change. I am now dedicated to reshaping that reality by providing robust support and aid to the community.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I joined the FACES Focus Group in March, where I met my co-host, Jazzmine. At that time, I was urgently seeking essential support and information for my son and family. While the group provided crucial details on services, programs, and aid, it was the collective power of shared stories that truly inspired me. Realizing how many caregivers lacked the necessary knowledge or assistance, I found the strength to transform my personal struggle into purposeful action. This realization drove me to create the change that was clearly needed. I am committed to being the change I wish to see.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Everything I do comes back to family—to building a better life for my son. Seeing the world through his eyes, I realized the space for him wasn’t fully there yet. That’s a heartache no parent should have to feel.
My deepest desire is to create a platform where people truly understand the crucial importance of support and services for the autism spectrum. More than that, I want to help build a real community for him and for others. While the conversation around inclusion and advocacy is growing, I want to actively contribute to that progress. This work is for all the parents, families, and individuals who know how dark and isolated the journey can sometimes feel; they deserve unconditional support and a place to belong.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What will you regret not doing?
My purpose is to impact lives and drive meaningful change. This is a mission I will never regret! I thrive on the opportunity to create shifts that benefit others and invest in generations to come. My future commitment is to the autism community: I will lead this change through volunteering, groundbreaking projects, or consistent podcasting. I know that with this passion, my potential is limitless.
