Austin- Tucker of Midtown on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Austin- Tucker shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Austin-, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Being that I have an almost two year old, my first couple hours of the day start extremely early. I try to get up around 4 a.m to attempt to get as much mix, master, and editing done before my son wakes up. It doesn’t hurt that I am a morning person and feel like my brain functions on it’s most creative level immediately after waking up.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Austin-Tucker. I am from a little town called Shelby, North Carolina. I currently live in Wilmington, North Carolina by way of Dallas, Texas. I am a Music Producer, Engineer and Songwriter. I personally think everything that I do is pretty interesting, and I would be in trouble if I didn’t. What makes it unique is that it is all created and authenticated in my domain. From start to finish, idea to fruition I can do it all in my home. I always knew music is what drove me and gave me goosebumps. So while working many different day jobs, I’ve slowly built a studio so that I can produce the sounds and feelings that I desire. It is one thing to create, but it is another thing to have the safe space to learn, contemplate and adjust on the fly. I feel like the best things are done organically, and come to us as and when they’re supposed to. I released a 9 song acoustic album in June of 2025, and plan on releasing a full production album by the first of 2026.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
At the end of the day, we all yearn for some form of love. I think what dictates who and what we accept it from is a different story. I think what makes, breaks and restores bonds is the belief that we as human beings don’t have things in common. Materials and objectives are the only things that really make us different. If we focused more on what made us similar rather then different, I think we would find ourselves with more alliances than oppositions.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yesterday. Any entrepreneur or creator has to go through the periods of self doubt. I constantly remind myself that if it was easy it wouldn’t be worth it, and that the steepest voyages create the most scenic views.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That you cant create a sustainable life in music. Just like any job, there will be times that you have to do the things that you do not want to do. There are levels to everything and it’s a marathon not a race. If you really love what you do, you can make a living doing whatever you desire. Its just a matter of what and how long you’re willing to ride the wave.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope the story they would tell would be one of faith and gratitude. That I was a passionate family man, musician and friend. And that the things I accomplished were as much about the people who were involved, as I was.
