Hi Alexia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello, my name is Alexia Whitaker. I’m 21 years old & the owner of SkinDeep Cosmetics. I’ve always been into cosmetics & I knew it was something I always wanted to do. In 2018, I moved to Greensboro, NC & my mom had a resident who was HIV positive & the medication she was taking made her suffer from Hyperpigmentation on her lips. I talked to her about her condition & learned more about the virus. I went home & did research & came up with a formula for a lip scrub & lip balm for Hyperpigmentation to try out. A few weeks later, after using the products, she healed her lips. At that moment, I knew I wanted to pursue my dream of having my cosmetic line. I started with a lip scrub, lip balm, & lipgloss 4 years later. I am now a full-time entrepreneur & now have an entire cosmetic line selling all-natural skincare, lip care, & yoni care that I formulate & make myself.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every business has bad days, but I’ve learned to keep going. Every second counts & time is something you can’t get back. Staying consistent is the key & the good days will always outweigh the bad days.

I specialize in all-natural skincare, and I’m known for making people feel beautiful naturally. I’m most proud of myself for building a brand that can help others fight their skin/body insecurities.

Stay consistent & don’t give up! Time is something you can’t get back, so make every second a dollar.
